Best Gas Mileage Cars - Not The Ones You Thought?
The best gas mileage cars include the Toyota Prius hybrid. However, they also include a few surprises, vehicles that may not come to mind when we think top fuel efficiency.
With gas prices soaring to all-time highs, and very little relief in sight, there are very few alternatives to ease the strain on our wallets. We can drive less, find
ways to improve our gas mileage and go further for the same amount of money, or look for alternatives such as hybrids or even bio diesel.
The best gas mileage cars are also the newest cars, which means most of us don’t have them, and most of us aren’t in a position to buy a new car right now. Besides, that would defeat the purpose of paying less money for gas.
For $21,100 the Toyota Prius gives us a Combined EPA Mileage of 42 mpg. Other top performers include the Mini Cooper, the Honda Civic, and the Toyota Corolla. Surprisingly though, the Toyota Altima is on the list as well.
It isn’t surprising that Toyota’s Prius is the top gas mileage car, however some at the top of the list actually are quite surprising.
Gas prices are tied to oil prices, and neither one is very stable right now. Nor are they likely to stabilize in the very near future. In fact, the price for a gallon of gas will almost certainly continue rising. Fortunately, this has at least led to some energy conservation.
While oil and gas prices rise, there are some things we can do to take some of the sting out of it. Driving the best gas mileage car if it’s possible is certainly one. But there are other things we can do regardless of what we drive, such as keeping our tires inflated and engines properly tuned.
